FullHydro tools

Tools

The code behind the data, released on its own. Every Full product is computed from one D8 flow-direction grid, not from a particular dataset. The grid stores one code per pixel for the neighbour the water flows to, and marks an outlet wherever the water leaves the grid, on the coast or at an inland sink. FlowMorph also reads the elevation, for the terrain attributes. FlowSink prepares that grid from a DEM; FlowDivide decides what is computed together; FlowTopo decides in what order; FlowMorph measures what comes out.

The tools

Coming soon FlowSink

Fills the depressions of a digital elevation model and derives the D8 flow directions from it: the step that turns a raw DEM into the flow-direction grid every other tool reads.

Version 1.0 released — Python, MIT FlowDivide

Cuts a flow-direction grid into whole basins, and into regions small enough for the memory you give it. It reads the grid a window at a time, so the size of the grid is not the limit. Its output is the basin and region masks of every FullBasin release.

Version 1.0.3 released — Python reference implementation, MIT FlowTopo

Serial orderings, parallel layerings and spatial partitions for D8 flow networks, computed once from the grid and reused by any drainage-order computation. The structures of the 90 m MERIT Hydro network are on Zenodo.

Version 1.0 released — Python, MIT FlowMorph

Computes the sixteen upstream attributes of FullBasin at every pixel of a flow-direction grid: elevation and slope aggregated over the catchment; perimeter, length, width and convexity from walking the divide; and relief, the hypsometric integral and the shape ratios built from them.
